Moral of the fashion industry

This is something I want you to take a look at, especially after our discussion at our meeting at Pate Pate. Models in a age of 13-16 years and an industry that drives young girls to get their ideals from girls with a underweight BMI .
Take a look girls(it is the film called SYGE MODELLER), and tell me you think?

  1. I also saw the program about the models and got quit alarmed about it. As designers we do have a responsibility when creating ideals, trends and new movements.

  2. What a grotesque programme. Talk is so cheap when the directors say that they can "smell" a eating disorder. But what about the parents? I think they got a responsibility almost even bigger than the bureau.

  3. Off cause it is the parents responsibility, but I do find it immoral that for the bureau encourage you girls to loose weight if they all ready have BMI that is way to low, and then earn money on girls with a such a dangerous disease.

  4. Agree. There is a big conflict there, because the bureau are there to earn money on the girls and if their clients wants them so skinny....I think there has to be some really strict rules for the girls, at least the ones under 18.

  5. no doubt about the problem here and I also think it is a bad signal for young models and girls because it is not natural for mostly wemens,

but I couldn´t help it...I just meassured myself and did the BMI test - and still as a 39 old woman who gave birth to two kids, I almost have the ideal hips (92 cm) and have a BMI on 18,3 (means below the 18,5 and underweighty)

I have always been very skinny and never ever had any food problems. For me it is natural but I would love to put on 10 kilo - I liked it when I was pregnant.

  6. Lucky bastard :0). Offcourse there is a problem there and that is also why Denmark do not want to set a weight limit, because they thereby makes healthy people sick. But nevertheless, working on to gaine some more weight, sounds more healthy than loosing some, when you already are slim.
